Our Philosophy

We’ve always believed in connecting all elements of our art and work into one. Our tattoos, art and efforts in the community are all apart of each other and embedded in our daily lives.

If you’re interested to learn more about our process and way of thinking, keep reading below.

Tattoos

At Relic we value the creative process of all art forms including tattooing. All our (Mark and Doree) tattoo designs are created by hand, no artificial intelligence. Combined we have 20 years of experience tattooing and have grown to appreciate, and obsess about, the entire process.

Before scheduling an appointment, please contact us by email (we check it very frequently), send us any photos or ideas of what you would like and where you want it to go and we’ll get back to you promptly.

Traditional Arts

Of course we think of tattooing as a traditional art form, but most people treat tattoos differently and rightly so, tattooing does involve blood and clean needles after all. By ‘traditional arts’ we mean drawing, painting, ceramics, metals, sculpture, textiles, etc. Both of us (Mark and Doree) have many years, longer than even tattooing, painting, drawing sculpting, and more. Making art is what got us interested in tattoos!

Community Effort

In 2018 we started working with non-profit No More Red Dots, creating programs such as PTTA (Peace Through the Arts, formerly Peace Press) and an artist guild in 2022. Our ideas about art being a way to sustain a livelihood and a good way of challenging an individual to learn new abilities, has been the foundation of how we approach teaching meaningful skills to youth. We continue to provide a platform for young artists at Relic where they can perform new music and/or showcase art.
